2009/10
Season:
This is my 2nd year here at Jastrzebski Wegiel. After last year
finishing 3rd for the Polish season and 2nd in the European
Challenge Cup it was considered a successful season, however this
year we are after better results. We start with Champions League.
Jastrzebski
Wegiel historically has been one of the top clubs in Poland and its
main sponsor is the coal mine which dominates the landscape in the
area of the gym. Last year I did not have a chance to visit the mine
and go down and see what it's really like, but this season we had
the chance. It was a great experience being able to go down and see
what it's like to mine coal 850+ metres underground. We were even
able to see the miners working to extract coal only metres away, not
something I might have imagine I would be able to do and an eye
opening experience.
