10-01-2010 : CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - PIACENZA 3.2.  We continue our unbeaten 2010 with a great win over Piacenza. This was a tough match with the Italians going through moments of brilliance with powerful serves followed by some moments of silly errors like stepping on the line from back row. In any case this was a close and exciting match for the 3000 fans in the Ice Palace. The start was tough as we struggled with the serve and Italian Block and they took a healthy lead as we came up to speed. Piacenza needed this victory to still have a chance to qualify to the next round of Champions League. The intencity was very high from the start. Piacenza elected to rest 2 key players, Zlatanov and Marshall during there weekend Italian league match so they would be at full strength. We played well at the end of the first set and this continued into the 2nd and 3rd sets. At the end of the 3rd Piacenza again forced the service with success and this was a key to the end of the 3rd set. The 4th we started well before Piacenza came back midway through the set. However from here we played a good end to the 4th and an exciting 5th set with some spectacular plays and the crowd going crazy. Great support from the home crowd as we went ahead and won in 5. We are still in a difficult situation with the qualification for the next round,all will be decided next week in Greece. Watch the game on www.laola1.tv.

10-01-2010 : WARSAW - 3.0 . A good away win, although we struggled in most areas. Not to dwell too much on this game because when it was close towards the end of the sets we managed to come through and win. This has to be a good point. Now we are back to Champions league in the important match with Piacenza.

 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - FRIEDRICHSHAFEN 3.2 A huge game 3.2 at home. This game was very important for our survival in the Champions league. A very long and intense game as in general a high level was attained from both teams. They risk alot with their style of play and there is never a dull moment with their full attack attitude. This poses unique problems when they can miss a series of served and then create opportunities with some huge bombs. We did a great job in reception with 60% positive reception. A great result with the constant pressure and ruthlessness of their service. Now we keep our chances alive to continue and we give ourselves a moral boost with a tough close victory.

10-01-2010 : POLISH CUP - 3.1 . YES!! A solid victory in Olsztyn 3-1. Winning the first set guarenteed us a place in the final 4 of the Polish Cup. This is a critical month for us and we can't make mistakes.

29-12-2009 : POLISH CUP - 3.0 . A perfect start to our Polish Cup campaign. A home victory 3.0 against Olstyn in the first of 2 games. The 3rd set we won 25-13. This puts us into a fantastic position to qualify for the final 4 tournament with the return game in Olstyn due for the 3rd January.

 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - FRIEDRICHSHAFEN 1.3. Well chances lost in both the first and second sets ultimately let us down. Having a solid lead in both sets we were unable to side-out when it counted and lost the match 3-1. Getting into a rhythm was very difficult as they missed a lot of serves, however at the end of the sets they served and blocked well. Dissapointment not to come out of this game with a better result. 15-12-2009 : Delecta - 3.0 . An important game against one of the top teams in the Polish league. Having the MVP and setter of the European Championships plus the Olympic Champion Libero. Delecta is looking at big things this year in Poland. A very good victory 3.0 at home was just what we needed to get our comfidence back up after Piacenza. A close but good game where our service seemed to come back to life after some very disapointing games. This victory actually brings us level on points with Delecta after the first round as we are equal 2nd.

 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - PIACENZA 0.3 To be back in Italy was great even if our volleyball didn't quite get to the same level as the food. Actually it was very disappointing not to have played a better game even if Piacenza played a very good one. They served extremely well and this was backed up by their block and defence. Again 'They played well' And honestly we did not play our best match. Now we must start to have some wins if we want to go to the next round.

14-12-2009 : Olstyn - 3.2 . Victory at home. Favourites at home against Olstyn our match started in the worst possible way losing the first 2 sets. I however was still on the bench suffering from the shoulder problem only the week before, and not having practiced I came on in the 3rd set. For me it was a tough game but the team started to play better as we came back from 2 sets down playing some gritty determined volleyball as we knew losing at home with Olstyn would be a disaster. The 5th set was close and we played with alot of emotion. It was a game where we needed it. The 5th went down to the wire and we won 17.15. We need to finish the first round of the Polish league in the top 4 to avoid extra matches in the Polish cup. Not to mention the ladder after the regular season for the all important seeding leading into the play-offs.

 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - GREECE 1.3 Well what a spectacular sight. The whole crowd in orange and in strong voice as we started our Champions League campaign. Its a shame that our match was not up to the standard of the atmosphere. We struggled to stop the attack from Pannetinaicos as our serve was very poor. Not putting enough pressure on them from the start of the match. Also our counter attack was let down by some poor options and some poor hits. This was a game ready for us to win but we were unable to execute our game plan well and failed to play at our normal level. This year we have a difficult pool and we need to take the opportunities that come and we let this one get away from us. Pannetinaicos had 3 starters missing due to sickness but they did play a good tactical match.

30-11-2009 : Czestochowa - 3.2 . Victory in Czestochowa. A difficult match after a 3 week break. The most controversial moment was in the 2nd set when a tip from our setter was called a carry on a point which was to decide the 2nd set. Both teams seemed resigned to the set being finished but the referee had other ideas. We had more chances to win the set but we did not take them. The rest of the match was a bit error prone as we struggled to maintain our level. In the tie break Czestochowa could not spike the ball in the court and we took the 5th set easily.

 Kedzierzyn - 3.0. Victory at home against one of the favourites. A great result for everybody as we fight for the top 4 positions after the 1st round. After coming off some difficult games we needed a good one and that is what we delivered. 8 blocks to 1 was a big factor but we played better in most areas.

Wielun - 3.2. A difficult game after the 2 losses. This would have been one of our worst games of the season. Down 2 sets we struggled with our consistancy before coming back to play a solid 3 sets and taking the 2 points.

Resovia - 0.3. Our first loss 3.0 for the season. At several times we were in contention to win the sets but at the end of each set Resovia played better. This was the difference between the 2 teams. A difficult loss but one where we did not deserve better.

27-10-2009 : 1.3 At home against Belchatow. It was a match that had just about everything. From the lights turning off in the first set to an exciting climax in the 4th. Unfortunately we didn't get any points. Belchatow served well in the 2nd part of the match and behind this they put up a very good wall. These two parts of there game were exceptional and we struggled to find our rhythm with our side-out.

22-10-2009 : Radom 3:0. It was again a close fought match but we came through with a straight set victory. Every set we were under pressure from Radom and we were down a couple of set points 22,24 in the 2nd before winning 29,27. We have played 2 games and only 3 teams are undefeated with only the good guys JSW taking the full 6 points. This is a reflection of how even the Polish league is. Now we will have a difficult period with Belchatow and Resovia our next 2 games both of course last years finalists.

11-10-2009 : First game of the seaon and first victory. 3:0 - 25.19 25.23 25.21. A nice way to start the season for the new look Jastrzebski Wegiel. A traditionally difficult opponent in Warsaw in which we lost both times last season and also in this years pre-season. The team played very well in attack and this set the platform for our victory, also it was a nice surprise to be awarded the MVP of the match. Four live matches this week will be on T.V. which means we will not play Radom until Monday.
